Success Stories
There are countless stories of success associated with ZES and its support for quality education.
Many more children are walking with a bounce in their step. These children often excel impressively, having felt privileged to have their education supported and be given the chances that so many others do not.
Humaira Fatima is in fourth grade and a shining example of the way in which ZES impacts lives. Pictured below, smiling today, she is here to be presented with first prize at ZES’s first ever award ceremony to mark its students achievements.
Fatima’s favourite subject is Urdu, and she says, confidently ‘I will be an Urdu teacher. Iqbal is one of my favorites’ and “ho mera kaam ghareebon ki himaayat karma, dard mando se zaeefon se mohabbat karna” is my mission statement in life. ‘ZES support allows me to go to one of the best schools in my area, it’s close to my home and I love school.’

Another bright spark is Saaba Fatima, at just fourteen years old she has worked so hard that her average grade across the range of government curriculum subjects was 95%. Fatima cannot wait to start college with the help of ZES, and due to her high grades she is being offered a choice of five of the best colleges in her area. ‘I want to do pre-med and become a doctor and make my family proud.’ Pictured below with her Mother, Saaba’s Mother commented, ‘None of this could have happened without ZES, they offer ongoing support. I know I can depend on them to support her future studies and change her life, they are solid and want the best for her future on a long-term basis, we are so lucky.’

Pictured below is Aqeel Abass. ZES offers religious texts for students to study to coincide with their mainstream learning, supporting their religious development and opportunities to gain varied and balanced knowledge and access to a career of their choice whilst exploring their own religion. Aqeel’s favourite subject is science, he joined a school in his area via ZES support and is winning first prize for the second year running. With a gleam in his eye, he politely comments ‘I wish to pursue religious studies when I reach the age of sixteen. It really disturbs me to watch the news and see suicide bombers and violence in the name of religion. Over the summer break ZES give us free religious texts to take home. I like taking this opportunity to really try and understand them for myself. Ever since I joined school I also started reading more and more newspapers. I want this killing and violence to end. I wish to become a religious scholar that promotes tolerance and understanding and the peaceful Islam that will help bring this violence to an end. I see it as my duty to play a role in this.’ Aqeel appreciated the benefits of learning mainstream government curriculum studies, whilst at the same time having his religious development supported by ZES. This offers him a balanced chance to make informed choices. ‘My Mother couldn’t come to the ceremony today, she has so much cooking and house work to do on Sundays but my Father is here, he is really proud of me and knows I will builds a better future and really make the best of the options ZES offers.’ Aqeel’s Father is a taxi driver, this wage hardly covers the family’s basic expenses so he does handy work and odd jobs for people to try and support the family. Aqeel has two brothers and a sister and they are all supported via ZES, one sister is in college and one in grade eight.
